About the Academy

Comprehensive early childhood services for Lawrence County families, part of the Community Action Organization for more than 60 years.

Our mission

Our mission is to measurably improve the well-being of the residents of Lawrence County by providing opportunities for those in need, and there is no better place to start than with our children.

The Lawrence County Early Childhood Academy provides comprehensive early childhood services, including Head Start, Early Head Start, preschool, and child care, with service options at locations throughout the county. Services begin before birth, with weekly home visits for expecting mothers, and continue through second grade with school-age wrap-around care.

Staff qualifications

The Academy exceeds the standards established by both state and federal mandates. Our teaching staff hold Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Associate’s degrees in Early Childhood Education, and administrative staff hold degrees and certifications in Early Childhood Education or related fields.
